Scotland, September 1 - 15, 2022
On September 6th my group (with Atlas Obscura) visited Castle Foulis, Seat of the Clan Munro and home to the Munro family. It was an amazing day of history and legends with a gentleman who is truly a Scottish National Treasure.New Paragraph
One of the things that The Chief of Clan Munro shared with us, was this ancient sundial. He said that it also tracked the cycles of the moon. How all the nooks and crannies and projections all worked together… has long been lost and forgotten. But it was still an object of beauty and workmanship to be admired. You could plainly see the Munro crest carved on the pedestal, along with the initials of “J & M” which possibly signified that this was a “marriage stone.” However, the stone-sundial atop the pedestal, there is no telling how old it is.
