Broken Pickets
MAY 31, 2010
_What do you do…_
_when someone kicks in your fence???_
_Do you replace the pickets immediately_
_so that no one knows how vulnerable you really are???_
_Do you hire armed guards_
_to protect what is yours,_
_this postage stamp on the earth_
_so no oil spills,_
_nor killing of animals or humans,_
_born or unborn,_
_fighting war, after war, after war, after war_
_where no poisonous sounds like leaf blowers or pesticide,_
_nor gmo’s,_
_cross over into your space,_
_separate from everyone else’s???_
_Do you run surveillance cameras_
_so you can voyeur_
_into the lives of everyone who passes by???_
_And catch the culprit_
_making them a spectacle for all the world_
_to see on how not to act???_
_On how not to destroy_
_what is precious to someone else???_
_What do you do with us humans…_
_who never seem to learn…_
_who erase one person’s ease in the blink of a kick…_
_Glue,_
_Clamps,_
_Imagination,_
_Perseverance,_
_Faith,_
_Willingness,_
_Prayers,_
_Hope,_
_Compassion and_
_Owning the hatred_
_and Destruction that lives in the dark folds of your own heart…_
_There…_
_in the between place,_
_where the light_
_shines all the brighter in this dense darkness,_
_the world turns,_
_and from that splintered break,_
_I seek the ability to dance_
_with it all…_
