Since this post first aired, our global situation regarding the Covid19 pandemic has greatly increased. Please use these exercises in a responsible way, practice social distancing, and be respectful of closed public labyrinths. And please share this post, jpg, and pdf with anyone who you think might benefit from these exercises.
Step-by-Step
## When needed… you can create your own portable labyrinth for easy transportation and small spaces. These “step-by-step” instructions are for either on the ground, as a tabletop labyrinth, or even just a piece of paper. They are very simple to make and can be made with anything on hand, including kitchen string. And they can also be drawn with chalk if you have the space to do so.
## Now more than ever, we need activities that help us connect to the earth, even in small, indoor spaces where we live, or in the corner of your garden or patio. And even if we are by ourselves, it is important to have calming and introspective activities to connect with each other in a whole new way.

I am not an expert in the COVID19. I can’t tell you where to go or what to do that the professionals haven’t already told us.
However, I know quite a bit about navigating and facing fear. Life has given me lots of experiences to practice. And I know that my health and well-being are best supported by my immune system. So keeping myself calm as I feel and process my fears, not holding on to them, is the best thing I can do to stay healthy right now. Also… Sleep. Good and healthy food. And my spiritual practice. These are also vital actions that I can do to support myself. And if you have a compromised immune system? Then I encourage you all the more to do small acts that bring you calm, peace, and a connection to the earth and your body.
Labyrinths can help us achieve calm by drawing them, walking them, or even by finger-tracing them. The three-circuit classical labyrinth is one of the easiest to draw and make. Something more happens when you actually make your own labyrinth. You create an even greater connection with your body and the land or your surroundings.

This handout comes from the Labyrinth Society Gathering Workshop that I did last Fall at the beautiful Pearlstone Retreat Center in Massachusettes. The workshop was entitled “The Heart of Placement.” The “Step by Step” name came about in conversations with Lorraine Rodda from Australia after the gathering. And the measurements for the tabletop labyrinth was the brainstorm of Janice Lewis of Chicago, IL, and her Teen Peace Club.
Please use this handout in any way that is of benefit to you and others. The pdf file is here in this post and also at the bottom of my [About Labyrinths](https://creativelabyrinths.com/about-labyrinths) Page.
