ash falls from the sky
I say prayers for trees leaving
guardian angels now
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
For the fourth year in a row…
my community is surrounded by fires.
Thousands of acres of trees between here and the ocean, are gone.
Their spirits drifting down into my yard and labyrinth.
Animals are fleeing, friends are fleeing,
with none of them knowing if they will have a home to return to.
And all of this on top of COVID.
It is surreal.
My prayers are that we listen to what our Mother,
the Earth is trying to tell us, all of us.
She is telling us that we are out of synch with her cycles and rhythms.
That we are out of synch with our hearts,
rhythms, cycles,
and each other.
I believe…
that if we all can listen,
to Her and to each other,
that like the Phoenix,
from the ashes
we will rise…
and return home.
