The Lost Gargoyle of Paris: An Accidental Alchemist Mystery Novella by Gigi Pandian
APRIL 1, 2020
One of my favorite, best-selling, award-winning authors, Gigi Pandian just released a stand-alone novella that I would like to share with you. The Lost Gargoyle of Paris: An Accidental Alchemist Mystery Novella takes place after the tragic fire that roared through Notre Dame Gothic Cathedral in Paris, France on the 15th of April in 2019.
## You may wonder how a 300-year-old alchemist, who looks twenty-eight, and an original gargoyle (who is very alive) carved for the Notre Dame in the 1840’s became friends? Let alone sleuthing out together a mystery regarding a document by Victor Hugo himself, found in the gothic cathedral ruins after the fire? If this intrigues you, then I encourage you to enjoy this latest chapter in alchemist Zoe Faust’s adventures. And I should mention here that this impish gargoyle is named Dorien Robert-Houdin and that he is also an incredible French chef… who whips up delicious vegan meals, but that’s another story. Some of Dorien’s delectable recipes are included in each book.
Sometime in 2016, I stumbled upon Gigi’s first book in the Accidental Alchemist series. I’ve been hooked ever since. From Portland, Oregon to Paris, France, and even to the winding streets of Prague I’ve followed these characters as they’ve gone in search of truth, adventure, and facing the ghosts of the past that have caught up with them.

By the way… a gargoyle is actually a figure-head that is a spout for draining water from the great cathedrals. The correct name for what we usually call a gargoyle is actually a **_chimera_**.

Labyrinths provide us with a path to practice change. Some labyrinths have withstood the passage of time for thousands of years. Others are here for just an afternoon, drawn in the sand at the edge of the ocean. Many modern labyrinths were meant to last for years, but because of unforeseen circumstances their time is shorter than intended. And they once again help us to practice letting go and giving thanks for the time they are with us. The Labyrinth of Life at the Sebastopol, California Teen Center reached such place of letting go and is at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another chapter that is yet unknown.

Sometimes... a labyrinth can take years to become a physical reality. In 2018 I met with my friend Deb, to discuss her desire to have a labyrinth on the beautiful land she lives on. Despite our plans and several meetings, listening to the land and finding the right spot, the labyrinth did not come to fruition. Fast-forward five years and in the blink of an eye... it happened!
