Feast Day Crowning Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, 2020
AUGUST 22, 2020
Hail Holy Queen
stars of heaven and this earth
with flowers we crown
stars of heaven and this earth
with flowers we crown
As I post this offering…
the winds have picked up again here in Sonoma County, CA.
I know that the extreme firestorms and weather that we are experiencing here,
are but a microcosm of what is happening to all of the Earth
and all of its inhabitants.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Nineteen years ago, last weekend… I was in Chartres, France for the Feast Day and procession of the Assumption of Mary with friends who were new to me. Nineteen years and a week later… I am at home, joining together with people from around the world, who are also new to me, in the crowning Our Lady with flowers from this precious Earth.
The three top rocks are from outside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres, France. Some of the earliest forms of worshipping and honoring the Holy Mother was with raw rock, natural forms of the Earth. This is my homage to Her ~ rocks from Chartres, flowers from my garden, my rosaries are woven beneath it all in the heart-space of my Santa Rosa Labyrinth, which is one of this labyrinth’s names from the heart of the city of Santa Rosa where it came through me twenty-three years ago.
And happy, happy birthday Way of the Rose!
Thank you, Perdita and Clark and Our Lady of Woodstock,
and my WOTR Circle with all my heart.

Labyrinths provide us with a path to practice change. Some labyrinths have withstood the passage of time for thousands of years. Others are here for just an afternoon, drawn in the sand at the edge of the ocean. Many modern labyrinths were meant to last for years, but because of unforeseen circumstances their time is shorter than intended. And they once again help us to practice letting go and giving thanks for the time they are with us. The Labyrinth of Life at the Sebastopol, California Teen Center reached such place of letting go and is at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another chapter that is yet unknown.

Sometimes... a labyrinth can take years to become a physical reality. In 2018 I met with my friend Deb, to discuss her desire to have a labyrinth on the beautiful land she lives on. Despite our plans and several meetings, listening to the land and finding the right spot, the labyrinth did not come to fruition. Fast-forward five years and in the blink of an eye... it happened!
